FASHION SUITE 1300: FASHION STREET TRENDS

Fashion street trends reveal the most popular styles of dress, art, and other popular factors that are seen on the streets.  Fashion trends often change quickly and fashion is often used to describe the latest version of these trends.  The most popular street trends that I think are the most influential this year is wearing black and white stripped fashion and ladies wearing thigh high boots.  Designers are using bold stripes and are using them in different angles.  Donna Karan designed this black and white stripped dress for her Resort 2010 collection and included many other stripped pieces.  

Designers are styling up their garments with the fashionable thigh high boots.  Thigh high boots are being worn with mini dresses, skinny leg jeans, hot pants, and maxi dresses on the runway. Emilio Pucci complimented many of his designs in his Spring 2011 collection with thigh high boots.  These designers are noticing the hot and most popular street trends and adding them into their new designs and making them appear sexy and trendy.

FASHION SUITE 1200: HISTORICAL & ARTISTIC STYLE FASHION

Many fashion designers look for new inspirations through art from paintings, sculptures, and collages.  Here are some past and present fashion designs that were inspired by historical art and incorporated into fashion. 

 

Givenchy Haute Couture Spring 2009 collection was inspired by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s painting “The Roses of Heliogabalus” from 1886.  This collection includes draping, feminine silhouettes, and softness that appear within Alma-Tadema’s painting. 

 

Designer Tadashi Shoji created his Spring 2011 collection with inspiration from the 15^th century renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli’s famous painting, Primavera from 1482.  The designer added the effects long silk chiffon gowns, layering and draping to give off a soft elegant look from the painting. 

 

Catherine Maldarino’s past collection included this beautiful dress that was inspired by French artist Henri Matisse.  He was one of the greatest artists of the 20^th century.  The design of this dress comes from Matisse’s artistic piece called “The Snail” which is a collage of different vibrant colored shapes he created in 1953.

 

Designer Duro Olowu from London gathered inspiration from the artist Pablo Picasso. He incorporated the graphic deco design into his Spring 2010 RTW collection.

 

Andrew Wyeth’s painting from 1937, “The Ledge and the Island” inspired designer Zac Posen for one of Spring collections.  He used sky blue dramatic dresses and included gowns that were hand painted and shadow-dyed in tones which resembles the sand and blue water from Wyeth’s painting.  

 

Designer Lela Rose used the color scheme and designs from the painter Alex Katz for her Spring 2010 collection.  She included graphic designs and bold colors in this dress that gives it an awesome artistic feel.
